TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

• GIS Software Use: Engage in hands-on work with GIS platforms like ArcGIS, QGIS, and other geospatial tools to support various mapping and analysis projects.
• Data Management: Assist in organizing, updating, and maintaining geospatial and asset data sets, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Application Development: Collaborate on creating and enhancing GIS-based applications to improve functionality and user experience.
• Customer Support: Provide technical assistance to clients, including answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with product use.
• User Interface Design: Contribute to user interface improvements, focusing on enhancing usability for GIS applications.
• Cartography: Create high-quality maps with attention to detail in design and accuracy for both internal and client needs.
• Data Scrubbing: Clean, filter, and prepare datasets to ensure data integrity and usability for analysis and reporting.
• Spatial Analysis: Perform spatial analyses, such as buffer creation, spatial queries, and data overlay to support decision-making.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in testing and validation of applications and data, identifying issues, and suggesting improvements.
• Report Generation: Prepare summaries, visualizations, and reports to communicate project progress, findings, and outcomes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• GIS Proficiency: Strong understanding of GIS software, particularly ArcGIS and QGIS, including geoprocessing, data visualization, and spatial analysis tools.
• Data Management Skills: Knowledge of data storage practices, database management (SQL), and the ability to organize large datasets.
• Programming and Development: Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or SQL, particularly as applied in GIS or data management contexts.
• Customer Service Orientation: Effective communication skills to assist clients and users with technical inquiries or troubleshooting.
• UI/UX Design Understanding: Basic knowledge of user-centered design principles, especially as they apply to GIS applications.
• Cartographic Principles: Knowledge of map design principles, including color theory, symbolization, and layout for professional map creation.
• Data Cleaning Techniques: Ability to identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in data, preparing it for analysis or integration.
